Baler and Other Stories is our first title, and the door we chose to open the Broken Flag Saga with. It arrives on Amazon Kindle and in paperback on 28 September 2026.
The book collects twenty stories set during the days a fractured Spain chose which version of itself would survive. Some are quiet. Some are not. All of them happen in the same country, in the same reckoning, seen from rooftops, kitchens, checkpoints and courtrooms rather than from the places history books usually stand.
Why a collection, and not a novel
The Broken Flag Saga follows a single bloodline across roughly five hundred years, over fourteen series. That is a lot of ground to ask a first-time reader to commit to. A collection of twenty stories lets us show the texture of this world — how it sounds, what it costs the people living through it — before asking anyone to follow one family across centuries. You don't need to have read anything else in the saga to start here.
What comes next
Baler and Other Stories is the first of what we expect to be several companion collections widening the lens around the saga's central bloodline. The next major title is Nahui Ollin: The Fifth Sun, the first volume of the Feathered Serpent trilogy, arriving in December 2026.
If you'd like to be notified the moment Baler is out, the newsletter signup on our home page will let you know the day it launches. You can also read more about the book, its formats, and its place in the wider saga on its book page.
